The finest handwoven and handcrafted vintage Pine Needle Basket Purse or handbag with ostrich and alligator trim. This vintage oval Pine Needle Basket Purse features jet black ostrich leather for the top, the bottom and the inside top and bottom. Jet Black Alligator leather trim with stitched edges was used for the front closure and back hinge. A vintage sturdy brass twist hasp is used on the front closure tab.
This is one of the FINEST hand-crafted Pine Needle Basket Purse or Handbag that I've ever seen. A fancy design was made by the use of the jet black threads used to craft this coiled pine needle basket purse.
Due to the high detail of craftsmanship used to create this basket purse, I believe the ostrich leather and alligator leather to be real. This is a vintage purse, most likely from the late 40's to early 50's which incorporates all of the native basketmaking materials of the Seminole Indians of Florida.
The vintage Pine Needle Basket Purse or Handbag measures 9.25" long, 6.5" wide, 5.25" high and has an attached alligator stitched leather shoulder strap that measures 20". Weighs 1 pound, 2.1 ounces - the weight is a sign of the highest quality! Absolutely MINT CONDITION!
