Finely crafted with ash wood top and bottom plates, traditional rattan reed staves and fine and tight cane weaving along the basket body and basket lid. The top plate has been stained in a deep walnut stain.
A carved ivory-like Nantucket seashell (2" x 2") has been attached to the top of this basket purse handbag, and a traditional ivory-like basket closure peg, which is used within the cane-wraped leather closure loops, keeps this basket purse closed when needed. The two hinges in the back are also cane-wrapped leather, as are the shoulder strap loops on the sides.
