Handwoven Twill Weave Basket Tray, hand-crafted in natural, dyed burgundy, navy blue and natural weavers in a very intricate basket weaving twill pattern.
Very tightly woven with flat reed, this twill basket tray is top quality basketweaving. Pointed corners of the base enable this woven basket tray to sit flat.
Natural flat oval was used for the rims, with a formed piece of round reed used as a filler between the inside and outside basket rims. The rims are lashed with natural colored waxed linen, giving this large woven basket tray a very contemporary and clean look. The rows of twill weaving are very tight and very straight.
The massive basket tray could also be hung on a wall as a very contemporary fiber art work. Brilliant coloring. No damage, and no basketweaving errors that I can find in the intricate weaving pattern. This woven basket took a considerable amount of weaving and time to create.
This huge woven basket tray measures 21" x 21.5" and is 3" deep. Signed by the basketweaving artist on the back and dated 1998.
