Handwoven Antler Market Basket Northwoods
Exceptionally sturdy hand-woven antler market basket, made with a hardwood base, wide rattan reed uprights and basketweaving done with natural and dyed rattan reed, cane, seagrass and a wide maple strip, together with cane lashing and a deer antler handle. An excellent market basket for a lodge or cabin decor.
Each of the framed "panes" on the maple strip, all around the entire basket, have been stamped with various Northwoods icons such as bear, deer and trees. Navy blue dyed accent weaving.
The entire basket has been stained in a medium Provincial water-based stained to achieve instant patina/age and to mellow the raw basketweaving materials. The deer antler has been tightly and firmly lashed to the basket rims, forming a very sturdy and rustic basket handle.
With the routed and slotted hardwood base, this market basket is about as sturdy as they come. This large market basket with an antler handle measures 16" long x 9.25" wide, 9" high to the rims and 17.5" tall to the top of the highest antler point. Weighs a hefty 3 pounds, 6 ounces.
