Folk Art Jelly Jar Basket Handwoven
Natural woven Jelly Jar Basket - classical folk art basketry! This nicely woven Jelly Jar basket features a semi-solid decorative woven base, with natural and dyed country blue accent weaving and a wood handle attached to the basket with wrought iron looking black metal handle and basket eyes.
This basket was woven using natural rattan reed for the base, staves and weaving, cane for the basket rim lashing and a seagrass filler between the inside and outside rims of this basket - used to cover the slim gap between the two rims.
The metal swing handle has a hardwood handle grip, and is attached securely to this woven basket by metal basket eyes which reside just below the seagrass filler and between the basket rims.
Signed on the bottom of this basket by the basketweaving artist, Barb Wykoff and dated 10 / '92. This Jelly Jar basket measures approximately 4½ in diameter, 5" to the top of the basket rims and 10" at the top of the basket swing handle.
