African Ethiopian Figural Handwoven Plaque Basket Bowl
Vintage African (Africa) Ethiopian (Ethiopia) handwoven figural basket bowl featuring two pairs of African figural people - one pair with rust, the other with rust and teal color arm bands. Over the years, this vintage hand-woven basket has faded slightly on the inside to colors of black (now chocolate brown), rust (now salmon), teal (now a light blue) and natural, which is now variegated colors of cream, tan and peanut butter.
Traditional basket making among Harari women in Ethiopia produce many common-looking grass baskets. This basket was hand woven by very skilled African / Ethiopian basketweaver.
Used for display only, this wonderful African tribal art basket is one from my own personal collection of baskets from around the world that I've been actively collecting for more than 20 years. I've come to the point in my life, and my woven basketry collection, that it's time to thin a few of these baskets.
This vintage African Ethiopian Figural Handwoven Basket Bowl measures 13" in diameter, is 2.75" deep and weighs 11.6 ounces.
